Car insurance comes at a hefty price, so how can you save yourself the costs (and the time) if you only want weekend car insurance? Luckily, GoShorty has you covered with a variety of temporary insurance options.

  • Fully comprehensive cover
  • 1 hour to 28 days flexible cover
  • Low Excess
  • Drivers aged 19 to 75
  • Maximum car value is £65,000
  • Protect the car owner’s No Claims Discount

What is weekend car insurance?

Temporary car insurance is an efficient and affordable way to get cover so that you can drive another person’s car much more flexibly. By taking out short-term car insurance for the weekend, you can protect the vehicle’s owner’s no claims discount and preserve your other insurance policies.

You can get insurance cover for as little as one hour, a couple of days, up to an entire month. Temporary car insurance allows you to only pay for the cover you need. Most policies under temporary car insurance include a fully comprehensive cover.

How Short-Term Car Insurance Works

Once you have permission from the vehicle owner you want to use, you can easily and quickly apply for and arrange a policy. It can also start immediately once you’ve bought it.

Short-term car insurance works the same as any other policy, and you will have the same level of coverage for a shorter period. A temporary insurance policy is separate from your standard or an annual insurance policy, which will not affect your no-claims discount and bonus.

What you get:

Benefits

Flexible cover length

You can get temporary cover for a few hours or weeks; the choice is all yours. This coverage is more affordable and efficient than an annual car insurance policy.

Fully comprehensive

You will be covered for repairs, fire damage, medical expenses, damage, theft, and damages done to another person, their property, or their car.

Cover on-demand

You can take out a policy easily and quickly without needing to answer lengthy questions or go through a long process like you would for standard insurance. Temporary car insurance cost is lower and comes into effect immediately.

Driving a second vehicle

If you have a second car that only comes out of the garage on special occasions, getting a three-day insurance policy whenever you feel like taking it for a spin is a great idea.
