You can easily get a month of provisional insurance from us. While many people think they’re stuck between a single day of cover or a full year’s commitment, monthly learner insurance offers a perfect middle ground. It’s a flexible way to get those extra practice miles in without the faff of long-term contracts.
We believe learner driver insurance should always be flexible, which is why we offer an array of duration options. Think of 1-month learner insurance as your secret weapon for the final countdown to your driving test. Whether you’re home from uni for the holidays or just want to spend every spare evening perfecting your parallel parking, a 28-day policy can give you exactly what you need.
The price of a month’s cover varies depending on factors such as your age, the car’s insurance group, and where you live. For an exact price, get a quote.
Price is always a factor when you’re learning to drive. Often, parents think the only option is to add their child to their own annual policy, but this can be surprisingly expensive and risky in the long run.
Unlike annual insurance or adding a learner to your policy, monthly learner options come without admin fees and premium hikes; you just pay for the time you need. This isn’t the only reason monthly cover is one of the best ways to insure learners, though. Our temporary options are standalone comprehensive policies, meaning the owner of the car you’re practising in doesn’t have to worry about their No Claims Discount if you have a bump whilst getting your confidence on the roads.

Most learners find that a month of cover is the perfect amount of time. It’s long enough to build real confidence on the road, but short enough that you aren’t paying for cover when you don’t actually need it. Data from the Ready to Pass campaign shows just how important being prepared is – in February 2026 alone, 50 out of 100 driving tests were failed.
Monthly learner driver insurance makes it easy to chip away at the extra practice you need to ensure you’re in the successful half, allowing you to head out whenever a friend or family member has a spare moment.
There are a few times when learner insurance for a month is particularly handy:
If you’re ready to get those extra months of practice in, we’re ready to help. Get a quote in under two minutes, or in just a few taps on our temporary insurance app.
It’s comprehensive insurance for learner drivers, available for 28 days to 6 months. Our learner insurance options are standalone policies that allow you to practice driving in someone else’s car alongside an appropriate supervisor.
Congratulations on passing! Once you’ve passed your test, you’re no longer a provisional driver, meaning your learner policy is no longer valid. You’re given a three-hour grace period to drive home from the test with your existing learner policy if it is still active. But to be able to drive after that, you’ll need insurance for a full licence holder.
If you choose to have your policy start instantly, it will start as soon as your payment is processed and your documents are emailed to you. It makes getting behind the wheel easy, without you wasting money on cover when you’re not using it.
If you find you need a bit more time, you can’t extend the same policy, but you can simply take out a new one for another month or just a few days of cover at a time. It’s even quicker to take out a policy the second time.
