Here at GoShorty, our team of insurance experts regularly features in the press. We’re always happy to share our temporary car insurance expertise, data insights, and survey results with journalists, which is why you’ll find us across the UK’s leading publications, both online and in print. Here’s a round-up of some of our recent coverage.
Phil Evans, Managing Director at GoShorty, said:
“If you spot a better deal mid-policy, you can make the switch. While there might be a cancellation fee from your current insurer, the potential savings from a cheaper policy could more than make up for it.”
In April 2025, The Daily Mail, Daily Mirror and Daily Express featured the results of our most recent survey into Britain’s most beautiful hotspots.
Phil Evans, Managing Director at GoShorty, said:
“It’s incredible to see how many breathtaking views we have right here in the UK – so stunning, in fact, that our research shows many Brits don’t even recognise them as homegrown… At GoShorty, we’re all about making road travel flexible and hassle-free, so drivers can hit the road and experience the UK’s beauty without the commitment of a long-term insurance policy.”
Phil Evans, Managing Director at GoShorty, said:
“Speeding isn’t just a risk to safety – it’s also a costly mistake… Drivers should always ensure they remain within speed limits.”
In February 2025, the Daily Express featured our driving advice ahead of Valentine’s Day, warning drivers that distractions could breach the Highway Code and cause some unexpected driving fines.
We explained:
“Love might be in the air, but actions like holding hands, kissing, or being distracted while behind the wheel could find you risking ‘driving without due care and attention’… Keep both hands on the wheel and save the affection for later!”
Matt Wood, Director of Data and Pricing at GoShorty, said:
“Our internal data shows that one-day policies are most popular on Saturdays… This reflects increased demand for flexibility and shifts in how drivers insure their vehicles.”
Andy Moody, Founder of GoShorty, added:
“GoShorty is passionate about supporting zero-emission efforts… We recognise our role in driving change, which is why we offer policies to electric and hybrid vehicle users, with electric vehicle policies increasing by 167 percent YoY.”
Ahead of heavy rain in November 2024, GoShorty’s warning to drivers was featured in over 40 regional newspapers, including The National and Daily Echo.
We highlighted:
“Halloween’s a great time of the year… but getting behind the wheel in an inappropriate costume could land you a fine of up to £5,000! Don’t get caught out before you’ve even had a chance to enjoy the evening.”
In August 2024, GB News and Birmingham Live covered our research on confidence levels driving on rural roads.
Our experts said:
“Despite the fact that most fatal crashes occur on rural roads, Brits remain confident in their ability to navigate them.”
We said:
“Even though you may be in a rush, it’s important to ensure the safety of yourself and any children in the car… Failure to wear a seatbelt or have a child unrestrained can land you with a fine of up to £500.”
In August 2024, Birmingham Live reported on the launch of our impound release insurance.
Our team said:
“Failure to collect the vehicle within 14 days could lead to it being scrapped or sold… We’re delighted to offer this valuable policy… now you can get sorted quickly and simply online, in less than two minutes.”
We explained:
“Learning in an automatic car is regarded to be easier… We’ve seen demand for automatic tests rise by 89 percent from 2019 to 2023… Our data shows over a third (35 percent) of GoShorty’s temporary learner policies were for automatic cars in 2024.”
In March 2024, the Daily Express featured our expert insight into the insurance challenges of Chinese EVs.
Our insurance experts said:
“Whilst the quality of the cars is excellent, the failure of manufacturers to provide a steady stream of replacement parts is effectively pricing out many motorists… A ready supply of parts and more mechanical repair training would lower insurance premiums for Chinese EVs.”
