Yes, subject to meeting the assumptions and eligibility criteria for each insurer. Different underwriters have different criteria - so make sure that you are eligible for your insurer.
Sorry no, we are an internet-based company, and all quotes need to be carried out on our website. Our underwriters do not offer these sort of policies over the phone.
If after submitting your application you have not been offered a quote by any of our insurers this may be due to a combination of factors such as your age, the duration that you’ve held your licence and the vehicle you want to insure. It may be that one or all these factors do not meet our insurers acceptance criteria and unfortunately, we cannot change the outcome of this for you. Do pop back again in the future; we constantly review and improve our acceptance criteria and work hard with our insurers to provide quotes for our customers.
As long as your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition, and you either have tax or will tax the vehicle with our insurance certificate, we can allow insurance for this purpose. The vehicle must have a current MOT or you must have a pre-booked MOT appointment to attend whilst insured with us in order for the insurance to be valid (please check our insurers criteria before purchasing).
When purchasing a policy, you’ll be asked to provide your licence number. If you’re getting a message that states the information does not match or isn’t valid, you’ll need to follow these steps:
Check your licence is UK registered (Northern Ireland and Isle of Man have a different format, and we may need to take extra details from you).
Check your first, middle and last name are spelt correctly, and you haven’t used a nickname or different name on the licence itself
Check your date of birth is entered correctly
Check that the licence number you’re giving belongs to the driver you’re insuring
Check that you’re not accidentally entering a number instead of a letter, for example, “0” not “O”
If you still need help feel free to contact us.

We update the MID (Motor Insurance Database) database as quickly as possible after you purchase a policy. Please be advised that MID only updates Monday – Friday. If a policy is purchased, for example, on a Saturday, the policy will not show until the following working week. It is possible with short term insurance that your policy may have expired before the details appear on askMID. During the working week this normally takes around 72Hours to appear. Even if your details are not yet showing on the MID your policy is still valid, being on MID is not proof of cover your policy certificate and associated documents are. We always recommend that you print your Insurance Certificate and Schedule and have this with you - as this remains valid proof of your insurance and legal entitlement to drive the vehicle.
If you're stopped, and your insurance isn't showing on MID, you don't need to worry. It is not a legal requirement to show up on askMID. From the moment you buy cover from us, your insurance is valid at your selected dates and times. Your policy documents are your proof of cover - show them to the police officer, and you will have proved your insurance.
Once you have purchased a policy from us, your insurance details will be passed to the Motor Insurance Database (MID). They are passed within the timescales required by the MID, but due to the short term nature of these types of insurance, it is possible your policy may have expired before the details are loaded to the database. We always recommend that you print your Insurance Certificate and have this with you as this remains valid proof of your insurance and legal entitlement to drive the vehicle.
