What You Can Expect from a One Day Insurance Policy

  • Fully Comprehensive Cover
  • Flexible Options
  • Low Excess
  • Protection of the car owner’s No Claims Discount

What Is Daily Car Insurance?

Daily car insurance is an insurance policy that lasts for 24 hours. If you don’t need to drive all that often, it can be a great alternative to an annual policy – allowing you to get cover day-by-day, when you need it. Perfect for car sharing or when you need to borrow someone else’s car.

We offer 24-hour insurance, two day insurance, weekend insurance options and so much more. We have plenty of flexible options so you should always be able to find yourself the perfect policy. If you need a one day insurance policy for moving house and the boot of a car doesn’t quite cut it, you can also get one day van insurance to make your move a lot smoother.

If you are borrowing someone’s car, taking out a temporary insurance policy is a much better alternative to being added as a named driver on the owner’s policy. If you only need to borrow the car for the odd day it will be cheaper, plus it means their no claims discount will be protected whilst you are driving – a better option for both of you.

At GoShorty we are all about flexibility, so you can find hourly insurance options, weekly insurance, and monthly cover, as well as our daily insurance offering.

How Much Does Car Insurance for a Day Cost?

Car insurance costs will always vary on an individual basis, due to the criteria insurance compaines use to decide on your quote. There are many factors that affect the price of insurance from the type of car you are insuring to your age. However, choosing a daily insurance policy will definitely be cheaper than an annual one or being added to a policy, if you don’t use the car frequently.

The average cost of a 24 hour policy is £20.44 – you can use our calculator tool below to see other average costs and decide which short-term policy is right for you.

We Don’t Just Offer Daily Car Insurance…

The Many Uses of a One Day Insurance Policy

We offer flexible policies for learner drivers, van drivers, and specific cover for those who have had their car impounded. Our one day policies and the rest of our flexible options can be used for a number of purposes including…

Car Sharing: Especially if you’re going on a long journey and want to share the driving load with a friend or family member.

Learner Driver Practise: Getting in the extra hours outside a lesson without breaking the bank can be crucial to a speedy pass. You will require temporary learner insurance for this, not a regular car insurance policy –  unless you are the one supervising the practice.

Test Driving Multiple Cars: When you’re buying a car second hand and having private test drives, it’s a great way to get behind the wheel without the risk of not being covered. Hourly car insurance could also be great for this.

Emergencies: Need to be somewhere quickly, but you’re not insured on someone’s car? Daily insurance could be just the ticket.

Borrowing a Car: Need to run one short errand? Daily insurance is ideal for short term use. Rather than adding someone to an annual policy (costly!!), add an additional driver by getting them a temporary policy and be on your way!

Driving A New Car Home: Once you’ve bought a new car you need to insure it, however you might not have an annual policy lined up. Daily insurance, or driveaway insurance, will allow you to drive away in your new car without issue, and keep you covered for the rest of the day.
